Abdulla Abdulaziz Al Subaie has been the Managing Director of Qatar Railways Company since March 2011. In his capacity as the Managing Director, Abdulla is responsible for providing overall leadership and direction in developing Qatar's Rail industry in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 for comprehensive national development.
Abdulla was the Group Chief Executive Officer of Barwa, Qatar’s leading Real Estate Development and Investment holding Group from April 2011 until May 2014. Under his leadership, Barwa accomplished significant turnaround in its financial health, corporate governance, performance management and operational efficiency. Abdulla succeeded in transforming Barwa from a business focused on revenue and asset growth to one that seeks to maximize long term shareholder value and achieve sustainable growth.
Prior to joining Barwa, Abdulla was the Chief Executive Officer of Smeet, an affiliate of Qatari Diar Group, serving the company since its formation in 2008 until March 2011. Abdulla has held various leadership and senior project management positions from 1996 to 2008 with The Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA), where he has managed multibillion dollar infrastructure projects.
Abdulla is Board Member and Chairman of Executive Committee of Qatar Rail and he also serves on Hamad International Airport Steering Committee and the Boards of Barwa Bank Group,Qatar Engineering & Construction Company (Qcon) and Injaz Qatar. Abdulla served on the Boards of many high profile organizations like Qatari Diar Group, Barwa, HOCHTEIF and Qatar National Broadband Network Co.
